#BlackFridayForPressFreedom Makes No Sense

Yup today is #BlackFridayForPressFreedom and CRappler is now playing the victim yet again. Is the revocation of CRappler's license by the Securities and Exchange Commission an act of dictatorship? I don't think so. The Philippines may be a democracy but it doesn't mean that there should be the rule of impunity. This is the problem right now as Maria Ressa faces the hard reality that she herself is also guilty of violating the rules the 1987 Constitution where all media must be Filipino owned. Hmmm talk about the Dilawan violating even their own rules huh?

The notion of press freedom is getting more and more ridiculous for this reason. How can people who support CRappler talk of press freedom when it's nothing more than a monopoly of information? There may be freedom of press but when it comes to news why be so biased? Why listen to only one side and ignore the rest? Should I mention that the Noynoying years nearly considered banning Filipinos from bringing in imported media and the anti-cybercrime law's petty libel clause nearly got passed?

The problem with CRappler is not its being critical of President Duterte. I welcome people who want to criticize President Duterte for his shortcomings. He needs some criticism at times because he can't do no wrong. He's just human and he can also be wrong in certain areas. The problem is not their criticism of President but they are bringing in fake news about him. It's already encouraging people to revolt against the incumbent president and creating a fictional scenario of how they define tyranny. I wonder does CRappler want Filipinos to remain undisciplined and proud of it? Is CRappler suggesting that President Duterte's call for ban on public smoking and curfew for minors are acts of dictatorship? If that's so then it's time to ask if they want Filipinos to remain as people known for not following simple guidelines and have a wrong notion of democracy?

This fight for "press freedom" may be nothing more than trying to make way for a Leni Loud dictatorship. This is not a fight for press freedom but for the rights of the biased media to have their monopoly of information. If Leni Loud became president then she would restore power to the Dilawans though this may mean betraying non-Yellow members of #TindigPilipinas. Why do you think the lousy 1987 Constitution made it that all mass media must be Filipino-owned? It's all about dominance all the while Ressa hypocritically broke that rule to give her more money. So what's the issue? Did she overspend the money? Did she help in getting rallyists and foreign intervention? If that's so then the very constitution which she supports has boomeranged right at her.

Here's the issues with #BlackFridayForPressFreedom right now. How much support do they have anyway? How much money is left in their accounts considering that they have been spending lots of money for foreign intervention? It doesn't even make sense to have it because they aren't fighting for press freedom but their loss of monopoly of information.
