Espenido assigned to Iloilo City - BIg Trouble for Drug Lords & Pushers in Iloilo.

Iloilo City Mayor Jed Mabilog will be having sleepless nights soon. If you recall, President Rody Duterte personally named the mayor a drug lord protector and it is probably what motivated Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido to hope for an assignment in Iloilo City.

Espenido's wish was made after former Mayor Aldong Parojinog Sr. was killed in an anti-drug operation.  It was in an interview over ANC’s Headstart with Karen Davila that Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido said ‘God willing Iloilo City will be his next assignment.

On Sunday, August 28, 2017, President Rody Duterte granted Espenido his wish.

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday confirmed that he is sending Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido to Iloilo City, which the chief executive once described as the “most shabulized” city in the country.

“Your next assignment is Iloilo,” Duterte told Espenido in a speech during the celebration of National Heroes Day.

If you recall, Espenido was the chief of Albuera Police when the town’s mayor, Rolando Espinosa Sr., was arrested on drug charges in Leyte and eventually killed during a police operation in his detention cell at Baybay City, Leyte in November 2016.

Espenido was then transferred to Ozamiz City in December 2016. Several months later, the city’s Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog, and 15 others died in a drug raid.

Espenido has denied irregularity in carrying out drug raids. He also maintained that the Parojinogs had links to the illegal drug trade.
