Why didn't Ayala Land build this in Davao during PNoy's time?

One can't help wonder why projects like these hardly happened in Mindanao during former President Noynoy Aquino's time.  Although a lot of bragging about economic growth and development was made during the reign of the PNoy, few Mindanaoans actually felt their lives had improved.

Now that Rody Duterte is the President, the feeling of financial improvement and a sense of hope prevails in Mindanao.

I guess one of the reasons behind this positive mood is because business people are spending to expand their businesses. The president promised entrepreneurs that there will be a business-friendly climate in the Philippines and assured people that they can do business with ease.

But a business friendly climate goes beyond just cutting red-tape. It also means that there will be law and order, for without law and order economic growth cannot survive.

It is only President Duterte who has met the problem of lawlessness in Mindanao by taking on the Abu Sayyaf and Maute. He also worked hard to reach a lasting realistic peace by talking with the MILF and MNLF so that law and order will be restored in Mindanao.

One such company that was encouraged by Duterte's economic policies and the establishment of law and order in Mindanao is the Aviana Development Corporation.

On Friday, August 25, 2017,  President Rodrigo Roa Duterte commended Aviana Development Corporation, a joint venture company of Ayala Land, Inc. and the Alcantara Group of Companies for their commitment to pursue economic development in many parts of the country.

President Duterte graced the soft launching of the Azuela Cove here, which is expected to boost commercial activity and increase job creation in Davao and nearby area. During his speech, President Duterte said that the joint venture shows that the government and its partners in the private sector can foster strong ties.

The Chief Executive also expressed confidence that the launch of the said project will boost commercial activity in the city and bring more opportunities. "In construction and operations alone, around 6,500 workers will be employed; surrounding areas are also expected to benefit from the increase in land value and the opportunities that will surely follow,"

President Duterte said. "This property development will further define the city as a thriving hub in Mindanao," he added. Among the plans for the Azuela Cove is the establishment of the St. Luke’s Medical Center, which is set to open in 2022.

“This state-of-the-art facility will help us address the medical needs of our people, contributing to the realization of our vision to have a more comprehensive and universal healthcare in the region,”

Duterte said. President Duterte also assured the private sector that the government is taking measures to ensure that they can do business with ease. “We intend to establish an environment that is more conducive for new investments to prosper and for existing businesses to expand and grow,” he said.

"It is my hope that this event will strengthen our collective resolve to provide a more comfortable and productive life for every Filipino," President Duterte said. The Azuela Cove, a 25-hectare waterside and residential development in Lanang, is an initiative of the Aviana Development Corporation, which is a joint venture company of the Alcantara Alcantara Group of Companies and Ayala Land, Inc. It will have condominiums, events tent, and other amenities.
