Shouldn't OFW Mistreatment Already Be A Call For Economic Liberalization?

I've been giving a thought that while some OFWs were really guilty of crime but there are some who are good OFWs but land on horrible bosses. Let's face this fact - if abusive employers exist in the Philippines then how much more in any area of the world? Malaysia may be a developed country but there's still locals who are crazy. Singapore has already reported of cases of jailing their own countrymen for mistreating their workforce. One recent incident of a domestic helper who was mistreated in Malaysia by a psycho Malaysian-Chinese couple returned home to the Philippines with lots of bruises and burnt wounds.

I think about the problem of sending OFWs to other countries. The problem is that some people in developed countries tend to look down at the Philippines because of its labor-export reliance. Why do you think some of these bosses would even attempt to rape some OFW maids regardless of appearance? Why do you think some of these bosses would beat them up like they weren't human? There's always the tendency for some people in developed world countries to look down at poor people from developing countries. If poor people are looked down by the rich in developing countries then how much more by the rich in developed countries?

The problem lies with the use of poorly thought out economic policies that has led to labor export policy. The problem of economic protectionism has led to two major problems. First, we have the lack of employment opportunities. Second, we have very low salaries which can only be increased through economic liberalization. OFWs have no choice because of either of those two factors. If there's no job opportunities in the Philippines they you have no choice but to fly abroad. If your salary is too low and there's sky high inflation then you have no choice but to fly abroad to get better salaries.

What's even more amazing is that there's already more than one OFW mistreatment report and yet people still wait for the blessed national self-industrialization to happen. They may even still think that these are but battle scars and OFWs means Filipinos are taking over the world when the reports say otherwise. No, if you want to greatly reduce OFW mistreatment then shouldn't it be more than time to open up the economy so Filipinos will have better opportunities in their country than having to fly abroad where they may risk getting abused far from home and the Philippines' power is way more limited?
