#NeverAgain To #PwedeNaYan Philippine National Defense
One of the biggest reasons why the Philippines is so easy to bully is because of a mediocre state of national defense. It's utterly pathetic to have a picture where the Philippines as a nation has become overly dependent on the United States of America whenever something bad happens such as China's bullying while other countries bullied by the same country are standing firm. So if ever China made the Philippines its favorite bully target -- don't say it's because of the "Filipino superiority". On contrast, it's because bullies love to bully those who are defenseless and weak, right?
Here's a bit of a picture of how bullying goes. Would you want to bully someone bigger or smaller than you? Would you want to bully a person alone or would you prefer where you are the majority bullying the minority? It's the same picture of why the Philippines ends up the way it is. No amount of Penoy Prayd will ever help the nation protect itself against foreign invaders. In battle, it's important to have both good quality weapons and people who can wield it properly. It's a perfect balance that must be met.

So what's the evidence of the Philippines' really poor national defense? Underdeveloped equipment for the Philippine Army is just one. The policemen and military have been so disorganized and not trained properly for so man years. There's a lack of discipline in people in charge of national defense. What was worse is that it was evidenced during the Manila Hostage Crisis. Years later, there would be the Mamasapano massacre which killed 44 soldiers all in one day all the while they weren't chasing such a big target. Losing 44 soldiers in one day was a result of having a disorganized team which resulted to the tragedy. These things should never be a room to scream "Proud to be Pinoy." but rather "Proud to be PNoy."
This is what the Philippines should do right now. Open up the economy to free trade so there will be more income for the government. Invest in upgrading the national defense of the Philippines. It may also be necessary to return military training as to instill discipline or civil service for Filipinos with special needs (ex. they are sickly or disabled) as part of the new program. Also, it means raising up benefits and salaries together with disciplinary standards to encourage better performance and discourage mediocrity. This way, the Philippines can have better national defense.
