Impressive ‘Bahay Kubo’ with Modern Design, Beautiful Native Furniture Pieces
An architect based in Cebu, central Philippines has wowed Pinoy netizens with his impressive ‘bahay kubo’ with modern design that also features beautiful native furniture pieces and a stylish interior design.
Created by Architect Carby Jason G. Osorio, this design concept is perfect for a tropical setting but would also be great to build near the beach. The amakan (woven bamboo) cladding makes this house look truly native, but Osorio revealed that it is actually just cladding and not the main wall material.
Still, the design looks superb and has wowed a lot of netizens who wished that they could also build a house similar to this one, with a native vibe but makes use of stronger modern materials.
This 2-story modern bahay kubo features huge glass windows that actually look perfect with the amakan cladding. The lower part of the house has concrete walls, but the area by the living room has huge glass walls that showcase the lush garden outside.
The interiors look fantastic, with floors made of wood in herringbone style. Beautiful native furniture pieces are used for the dining area and living room, but modern additions such as the glass dining table and soft couch at the living room match the eclectic theme.
The kitchen has modern appliances and contemporary lights, but the native theme is still visible through the use of wood cabinets.
This house features 2 bedrooms, with one loft bedroom being a favorite part of this home. This bedroom on the second floor features a reading nook at the egg-styled hammock hanging from the ceiling.
This bedroom does not have a wall from the interiors, creating an open room that looks out to the floor below and also has huge windows to view the beautiful gardens outside the house.
The second bedroom at the first floor has more privacy but is smaller. It features a workstation.
This lovely home even has a bathroom that also goes with the house’s woodsy theme but is clearly made of modern materials.
