Guy Inspires with Message to Support GF: “So What If She’s More Successful?”

Despite living in modern times, many of us still have this notion that the guy should be the provider in the family. While the wife or girlfriend can have a job, it is often the guy who is viewed as the one who should be earning more.

Because so many ladies are working these days, there are actually many who earn much more than their partners and have a higher rank at their job. Sadly, a lot of them also have partners who don’t support their partners; instead, they feel insecure about the woman’s success and believe that they are inferior just because they earn less…

Eugene Ng from Klang, Malaysia, went viral recently for inspiring netizens with his post on Facebook to support and honor his girlfriend of 9 years, Teh Yin Yin. He admits that he had been lazy at first, not really caring about what would happen to his life in the future.

I was just a normal boy who came from a single parent family. Poor, lazy, immature, directionless with a big ego,” Eugene admits.

I felt intimidated by her success and I felt like I was not suitable for her, as she was so successful. I basically felt emasculated by her success and because of that, I lost confidence in myself.

At one point, his girlfriend’s mom even cried, thinking that Eugene could not support her daughter in the future.

Lucky enough, YinYin did not give up on me. She believed that I will come to my senses one day and that I would work hard for the future I want.

Yin Yin loved him so much and believed that he could still change his outlook in life.

This day came when Yin Yin received a huge bonus at work and brought him to a shopping spree. Eugene realized that he should be the one treating his girlfriend to that shopping spree, not the other way around. Yet he also did not feel jealous, because he supports her career goals.

This became the start of his journey to becoming a better worker, provider, and boyfriend for Yin Yin. Soon, the two were able to save enough money to build a house together and also go on trips to places they had only dreamed of.

As they now enjoy the fruits of their labor, Eugene honors the woman who did not give up on him and who supported him at all times. It’s time to give back and honor her in return.

Men should not ever feel intimidated and emasculated by a successful significant other as they worked hard for it and they deserve it. As their other half, we should be proud of them and fully support them instead of giving up the relationship. We should work harder, put in triple the effort and learn from our partners,” he wrote.
