Every May 12, International Nurses Day is being celebrated across the globe. This day is the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the British nurse who is also known as the “Lady with the Lamp”. Nightingale was in charge of taking care and treating the allied soldiers during the Crimean War.

The “Lady with the Lamp” rooted from how she was doing the rounds at night while holding a lamp, and treating the wounded soldiers. Florence Nightingale is prominently known as the founder of modern nursing.

During this celebration, greetings and appreciations were not only found and felt inside the hospitals, but alongside this age of social media, many netizens were happily posting and sharing heartfelt greetings to all the nurses worldwide. Based on the International Council of Nurses, this year’s theme is ‘Nurses: A Voice to Lead – A vision for future healthcare.’

One of the most notable International Nurses Day celebration we saw this year in the country was how St. Luke’s Medical Center delivered their sincerest gratitude to their nurses.
