Samar’s Samela Aubrey Godin wins Miss Culture International in South Africa
Miss Philippines Samela Aubrey Godin has raised the country’s flag in South Africa by winning the Miss Culture International 2021, the country’s first crown in the pageant held live despite the coronavirus pandemic and its Omicron variant treat.
The Special Education (SPED) teacher and event coordinator from Samar province bested other candidates from different parts of the world and bagged the crown for the Philippines during the grand coronation held at The Lyric Theatre in Johannesburg on December 5, 2021.
Samela, a finalist during the Miss World Philippines 2021 pageant, also won the Best in Swimsuit and Best National Costume awards in the South African-based international beauty derby.
The newly crowned Filipina beauty queen was joined by first runner-up Miss Zimbabwe and second runner-up Miss Lesotho.
With her remarkable feat in South Africa, Samela joins the list of Filipinas who brought glory and pride from the pageantry world to the Philippines.
Alexandra Faith Garcia from Olongapo City, Zambales, won Miss Aura International 2021 in Turkey in October.
Cinderella Faye Obeñita of Cagayan de Oro was crowned Miss Intercontinental 2021 in Egypt.
Batangas’ Maureen Montagne clinched the Miss Globe 2021 crown in Albania.
