Cavite University Choir Sola Gratia Chorale Emerges Grand Prix Champion in Singapore Festival
The Sola Gratia Chorale of the Adventist University of the Philippines in Silang, Cavite, has successfully raised the Philippine flag abroad after winning the Grand Prix and three Category Championships at the recently concluded 2024 Singapore International Choral Festival (SICF).
The Filipino singing group clinched the top prize as the highest-ranked Grand Prix finalist, besting six other choirs from China, Singapore, and Indonesia, in the 8th edition of the choral competition held on July 31 at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music Esplanade Concert Hall.
Under the leadership of their founder and conductor, Cyril Punay, Sola Gratia Chorale aced their performances and were named Category Champion in three categories ahead of the Grand Prix:
- Gold Award – Musica Sacra Open Category
- Gold Award – Folklore Open Category
- Gold Award – Mixed Choir Category (25 Years old and Below)
The university-based Filipino choir performed Z. Randall Stroope’s “Petrus” for the Musica Sacra Open Category, and Francisco Feliciano’s choral piece “Pamugun” for the Folklore Open Category.

Sola Gratia Chorale outshined 71 other participating choral groups to win the Grand Prize and qualify as the SICF champion at the 4th Asia Choral Grand Prix in 2025, the competition won by the UPLB Choral Ensemble of the Philippines in its inaugural edition.
In just only five years since it was founded, Sola Gratia Chorale has already joined the list of Filipino choir groups bringing home pride and glory to the Philippines.
Imusicapella, a church-based choir also from Cavite, won the Grand Prize at the 2024 Béla Bartók International Choir Competition in Hungary last August 4.
The UP Concert Chorus of the University of the Philippines also won gold prizes from the Music Orbis Prague Festivals last July 1 in the Czech Republic.
