Filipino-American media personality MJ Racadio marked a milestone as he celebrated the 10th anniversary of BlogTalk with MJ Racadio in 2024. The journey, which started as a simple podcast in Modesto, California, has evolved into a powerful platform amplifying Filipino voices in Hollywood and beyond.
From Bedroom Podcast to Hollywood Success
Reflecting on his decade-long journey, MJ Racadio shared his humble beginnings: “At that time, I just finished my business degree and moved to Modesto, California. I wanted to do something to really represent the Filipino culture and the Fil-Ams.“ His vision led to the creation of BlogTalk with MJ Racadio, featuring influential Filipino-American personalities and making waves in the community.
His dedication opened doors to Hollywood in 2015, where he continued showcasing Filipino talent and Hollywood icons. “And the rest is history,” he remarked.
Covering Miss Universe and Exploring Mexico
Beyond media, MJ has had the opportunity to cover international events, including the 2024 Miss Universe pageant in Mexico City. “It reminds me a little bit of Metro Manila,” he said about the vibrant city, noting its historical connection to the Philippines. He also explored cultural landmarks such as the Teotihuacan Pyramid and the National Museum of Anthropology.
Grammy Recognition and Promoting OPM
A trailblazer in the music industry, MJ became a contender for the Grammy Awards, representing Filipino talent on the global stage. He executive-produced Music Inspired by 1521, a soundtrack for the historical film 1521, starring Danny Trejo and Bea Alonzo. “I wanted to amplify OPM artists, so I submitted the entire album for Best Global Music Album,” he revealed. His dedication to Original Pilipino Music (OPM) is evident as he continues to collaborate with Grammy-winning artists.
His music video for the project, filmed in Los Angeles, won a bronze award at the International Film Festival Manhattan New York, further cementing his influence in entertainment.
Passion for Entertainment and Positivity
Despite his busy schedule, MJ remains passionate about his work. “I’ve always been fascinated with the entertainment industry, and now that I’m part of it, I want to make things happen,” he shared. He credits his positive outlook to his upbringing and his parents’ influence.
His journey continues as he embarks on new projects, promising more music and inspiring stories. “There’s going to be some more,” he teased, hinting at exciting ventures ahead.
