Military blocks Maute's escape route-- Their days are numbered ~SHARE
At around noon Friday, September 22,2017, the military gained control of the Raya Madaya Bridge or Masiu Bridge in Marawi City.
Although the military has taken control of the area, Colonel Romeo Brawner, deputy commander of Joint Task Group Ranao, said improvised explosive devices still hindered state troops from clearing the city.
However, Brawner said that the terrorists control an area of less than 10 hectares in the city.
Masiu Bridge is within the vicinity of Agus River and Lanao Lake.
According to the office of Presidential Spokesperson Ernie Abella, the retaking of the Masiu Bridge Government troops’ control of the Masiu Bridge is a significant development in our goal of ending the rebellion in Marawi.
The Masiu Bridge is the bridge said to be closest to Lake Lanao and is a possible escape route of the remaining terrorist rebels still holed up in the main battle area.
Government troops are now in the final push and despite the enemy’s continued resistance, our recent successes would hopefully lead to the eventual liberation of the entire city and pave the way back to normalcy.
