Bagyong Vinta December 20, 2017 PAGASA weather update

Forecasters said the Low Pressure Area (LPA) East of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur, has developed into a tropical depression and was named Vinta.

At 4PM today, PAGASA posted that the eye of Bagyong Vinta 2017 was spotted 735 kilometers East of Hinatuan, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kph. It is moving West at 20 kph.

  • 24 Hour(Tomorrow afternoon): 350 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur
  • 48 Hour(Friday afternoon):In the vicinity of Claveria, Misamis Oriental
  • 72 Hour(Saturday afternoon): 220 km East Southeast of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan
  • 96 Hour(Sunday afternoon):340 km West Southwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan
  • 120 Hour(Monday afternoon):800 km West of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan (OUTSIDE PAR)

Tropical cyclone warning signal number 1 (30-60kph expected in 36 hrs):
  • Surigao del Sur
  • Northern Davao Oriental

Impacts of the wind, according to PAGASA:
  • Very light or no damage to high risk structures,
  • Light damage to medium to low risk structures
  • Slight damage to some houses of very light materials or makeshift structures in exposed communities. Some banana plants are tilted, a few downed and leaves are generally damaged
  • Twigs of small trees may be broken.
  • Rice crops, however, may suffer significant damage when it is in its flowering stage.
