Disturbing Similarities Between Noynoy Aquino And Mao Zedong
This would be a new post dedicated to the one and only Noy Zedong este Noynoy Aquino! So what disturbing similarities do Noynoy and Mao Zedong have in common? We could go beyond the obvious receding hairline to the substantial ones.
Both are revered as charismatic leaders by their diehard followers
Both Noynoy and Mao are both charismatic leaders who were held at high regards by their camps. If there were Maoists then there are also Noyists (another term I made for Noytards). Both Mao and Noynoy are highly regarded by their fanatical followers. Would have social media existed in Mao's term the Maoists would have been trolling the Dengists with their nonsense propaganda. In today's digital age the Noyists are carrying the propaganda of Noynoy.
Both are economic protectionists
Mao himself developed a strong economic protectionist in China while Noynoy maintained the 1987 Constitution's protectionist clause. Maybe Mao thought that national self-industrialization would come to pass under protectionism never mind islands around China remain underdeveloped without foreign influence. Noynoy himself refused to open up the economy for whatever fears he may have had. It's safe to assume both Noynoy and Mao viewed foreign investors as foreign invaders that's why they were economic protectionists.
Both are censorship freaks and historical revisionists
Under Mao, censorship was really that strict. You had nothing to read about Chinese history than those approved by Mao. In the Philippines, do you remember the proposal that could have forbidden Filipinos from bringing books abroad? Luckily, Noynoy didn't sign that bill but it seemed to be breeding ground for Noyism. Not to mention, almost every history book today has been rewritten in favor of the Aquinos just like Mao had them rewritten in his favor. Worse, both lied to their followers that they were experiencing economic progress when they didn't. I wonder did Mao keep blaming Chiang Kai Shek for all his problems just like Noynoy blamed Gloria Macapagal Arroyo for his problems?
Both won by popularity than by credibility
Okay, Mao's mother didn't die before he got his vote. He was already in office long then and some may argue that Mao is a brilliant tactician. I agree. But what both he and Noynoy have in common is that they both won by popularity. It was a charismatic revolution that allowed Mao to overthrow the Chinese government and for Noynoy to be legitimately voted as the 15th president of the Philippines.
Both pretended to be pro-poor while enriching themselves and their followers
Mao's decision of a Communist model was only to enrich himself. Noynoy used the model of "if there's no corrupt officials then there's no poor people. Didn't Mao also convince people more or less of the same motto Noynoy gave during the elections? Once they got into power they were generous to their friends and ruthless to their enemies to certain extents. Should I mention they mostly appointed their friends instead of whoever is more qualified?

What other similarities can you name from both baldy men?
