Should Ninoy Aquino Be Named As The Best Example Of Making Heroes Out Of The Wrong People?
When it comes to Dilawan who is the first person that comes to mind to some people? That's right, we're talking about the deceased Ninoy Aquino. I was listening through Ninoy's speeches it's really easy to see this one - he's a goofball who refused to shut up. What achievements did he really have? From what I heard from The Stagnant Filipino he had no charity projects, no laws passed (and doesn't that bring up that his son Noynoy Aquino was a mediocre senator), no projects, no vision for the future... so why was he even made a hero?
Let's just face it. Ninoy and Noynoy may not be exactly alike but you can't deny that while a son isn't the father's perfect copy but certain traits will still make it to the male offspring. Unfortunately, one of them is the Abnoy Gene. Ninoy once asked Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. if the people could eat the infrastructures. Years later, we'd have the son Noynoy achieving what the father couldn't, became president and decided to ask stupid questions to both Bongbong Marcos and Imee Marcos-Manotoc. It's all about the solar plant if there's no sun and the wind mill project if there's no wind. Did Noynoy even read any science books in High School that explains the basics of renewable energy?
It's time to ask the question: what in the world did Ninoy really achieve t o make him a sudden hero? Goofball speeches? Did he have any projects? It may have turned out he was just a blabbermouth and a congenital liar. If that's so then by all means Noynoy is continuing his father's legacy. Noynoy himself is also a blabbermouth and a congenital liar. History may have repeated itself with Bongbong's frequent criticism of Noynoy even if their roles were switched in contrast to their fathers.
Perhaps the reason why Ninoy wasn't even executed was because he may have been the least guilty person of the group. In what way? If he was the reason why the coup failed to start with then imprisonment would be enough. He may have not had much brains to be the real mastermind of Plaza Miranda Bombing. It's possible that he didn't even mastermind anything big with the people he got arrested with. When he chose to starve himself in prison it was most likely to get attention than anything else. The situation of Ninoy's arrest may be no different than that of Antonio "Sundalong Kanin" Trillanes. Trillanes like Ninoy is also someone who just refuses to shut up. I guess that's why even if Trillanes belongs to I'm Not Democrat I'm Nacionalista - he's now easily getting along with the Liberal Party in their new alliance of supervillains called #TindigPilipinas. I guess Ninoy Aquino should be the hero of Talk N Text right?
Then it happened: Ninoy got shot when he returned to the Philippines after an operation. If he died for political ambition then that's not heroism. If he died out of katagahan or inattentiveness it's also not heroism. So why was he made a hero? Because he was shot? Because he made those speeches against Marcos? Unfortunately, as much as I don't regard Marcos a hero but the person may have gotten it right to call Ninoy a blabbermouth and a congenital liar. Yet, people made him a hero only because they needed a cause to rally about. Unfortunately, Ninoy may have just died because he was inattentive. I don't see any heroism in that.
Shouldn't it be any surprise that they made Jover Laurio as the Filipino of the Year?
