Student Misunderstands Teacher’s ‘INC’ Message, Convo Goes Viral

These days, classes are being done online. Since teachers can’t also meet with their students in physical classrooms, they could only message them online or via text messaging. But some miscommunications might happen due to the limitations of these messaging options.

Recently, the conversation between a teacher and a student went viral after the student misunderstands the meaning of ‘INC’ in the teacher’s message.

Teacher Joemar Ancheta is assigned at a high school in Makati, Metro Manila.

Ano nak? Wala ka bang plano? INC ka pa rin,” the teacher gently reminded the student in a private message, referring to the student’s ‘INC’ grade which actually means ‘incomplete’ grade.

Anong plano sir? Oo sir. INC pa rin ho ako. Bakit po?” the student replied, definitely confused.

Thinking that the student knows about his grade but is indifferent about it, the teacher decided to just give him a failing grade, instead.

Sige ibagsak na lang kita,” he replied.

Kailangan ba maging Katoliko?” the confused student asked, apparently thinking that the ‘INC’ his teacher asked had referred to his religious affiliation of INC which means Iglesia ni Cristo.

Anong sinasabi mo? You need to comply sa mga requirements mo para may grade ka. INC means incomplete,” the teacher replied, also confused.

Linawin niyo ho kasi,” the student boldly replied.

Realizing his part in the confusion, the teacher apologized to the student for the miscommunication. The teacher explained that the student was not able to submit a performance task; hence the INC grade. He gave the youngster until next week to complete this school requirement.

While convo gave netizens a good laugh. Ancheta admitted that he was also amused with the conversation but explained that he also understands his students’ plight. After all, he is not their only teacher and there are other subjects that also require them to certain tasks.

Naiintindihan ko kasi mga pinagdadaanan din nila. Kami nga na sa isang subject lang naka-focus, nahihirapan. Paano pa sila na 8 subjects,” he explained.

After the miscommunication experience with his student, Ancheta offered advice to his fellow teachers.

Did you think ‘INC’ also meant ‘Iglesia ni Cristo’ in the teacher’s message?
