Antique mom now a millionaire because of her ‘miraculous mushroom’ business

- As a result of hard work, Myrna was able to put her children in college, and now owns three houses and different cars
Myrna Alonsagay, a mother from Antique, has achieved not only enough to support her family, but is now a certified millionaire — thanks to the ‘miraculous mushroom’ business she founded.
In a Kapuso story, Myrna shared that in 2008, she decided to move out of their province in Antique in order to support her children who are already in college by that time. Also, she had talked about this with her family to help sustain their needs.
Myrna talked about how she started as a seller in the market until such time when one of her friends introduced to her the mushroom products. Her friend asked if she could sell them in her store. To Myrna’s surprise, the mushrooms were immediately sold, and received feedback that they were actually delicious.
Myrna used P30,000 as a capital to open the now successful ‘Myrna’s Miraculous Mushroom’. Her business venture began with only 3,000 fruiting bags, which in four months, she was able to harvest 10,000 kilos of mushrooms.
To this day, Myrna’s business does not only produce mushrooms, but also offers mushroom products like chips, chicharon and polvoron. Aside from these, they also made healthy meals made of mushrooms such as mushroom pizza, mushroom burger and mushroom fries.
Myrna shared that the most valuable success she achieved was that she was able to support her three children in finishing their college degrees. Meanwhile, her children also expressed how much they love and how grateful they are to their mother.
Myrna does not solely manage the business now, as her children are helping her with the operations.
Myrna’s Miraculous Mushroom is located in Trece Martires, Cavite. On their Facebook page, they are not only selling their products but likewise offers trainings and seminars about mushroom cultivation. This is in partnership with The Association of Mushroom Growers and Livelihood.
