LOOK: ‘Pambahay’ online shop that opened during the pandemic now earning P500,000 a week

Macy Lualhati is the founder of ‘Pambahaymnl’, an online shop that opened amidst the pandemic in August 2020. She used her hard-earned savings worth P20,000 to start this new business venture. Now, the online shop earns P500,000 a week.
Her story was not an overnight success however. In a Kapuso interview, she talked about the story of how she began venturing into online selling.
In 2015, Macy opened an online shop while currently working at a bank. She used P2,000 as capital to sell clothing items from Taytay tiangge. She shared how she wakes up at dawn to go to Taytay to buy her stocks. Then she goes to work, and once she’s at home, she will iron the orders and get them ready for shipping.
After a year and a half, she was able to save P100,000. By that time she started producing her own clothes with her own dressmakers and machines. Also, she became a supplier of an online shop, and started to earn P50,000 a week.
But as the pandemic heightened last year, their business operations stopped following the withdrawal of their client. Some of her dressmakers went home, while others stayed with her. In order to survive, they improvised their operations by producing cloth masks and PPEs. However, this was not enough for them to be able to survive.
Fast forward to August 2020, her previous dressmakers went back to her asking if they can continue their jobs. Macy then thought of producing terno clothings. She used her P20,000 savings to open the online shop ‘Pambahaymnl’.
The online shop is a huge success as they are now earning around P500,000 a week.
The dressmakers of Pambahaymnl are paid by piece, depending on how many pieces they can work every week. One of their dressmakers, Rose Delfino said she can earn up to P10,000 a week. She further shared that since she worked at the shop, her family was able to buy their own house.
The story of Macy’s success was not only for herself, but it was also a reflection of how her employees were able to reach their goals and likewise achieve success.
