- Building of own swimming pools within the house vicinity has became a trend this summer among Filipino households
- These DIY swimming pools prove how resourceful Filipinos are— enjoying the waters right in the comfort of their homes
- With the safety protocols and restrictions that are still being implemented across the country, many vacationers are still stuck at home and unable to visit the beach or do activities that are popular during summer
Filipino families who have extra spaces within their house vicinity are now shifting from inflatable swimming pools to DIY swimming pools.

As the pandemic continues, there is still no luck for family travelers who are wishing to get out of their homes and experience summer activities that they have been used to every year. Other than being costly, the threat still hangs and continues to make people more cautious.
However, Filipinos being known to have natural-born resourcefulness, some households were able to build their do-it-yourself (DIY) swimming pools just right within their home vicinities.
Ideally, these DIY pools should be placed outside houses, but a married couple from Hagonoy, Bulacan, preferred otherwise.
Mr. & Mrs. Bayani Roque built a swimming pool literally inside their house. They successfully transformed a storage room of their unused belongings into a special swimming area.
In a Kapuso interview, they talked about how it took them three months to finish this family project. They initially planned to purchase an inflatable wading pool, but the possibility of it being worn out easily made them reconsider.

Another story of DIY pools was the swimming pool project of the Abaya family. Interestingly, the location of their DIY swimming pool was their previous pigpen area. One of the distinctive features of their pool project was having lights and sounds.
Indeed, many families have been showing creativity and resourcefulness this summer not only to beat the heat but also to enjoy and have fun with the kids.
