There’s no doubt that among the Philippines’ most celebrated elements of its culture are the Filipino dishes. This is why our compatriots who are now living outside the country continue to crave for Filipino foods.
Now, big thanks to Mikey Chen, a famous food vlogger who recently featured in his YouTube channel a roadside eatery located in Princeton, Texas named “Old Rooster Creek’s Filipino / Asian American BBQ”, many Filipinos in the area can now have a go-to restaurant to have a taste of home foods.
In a Kapuso story, it was told that the roadside restaurant was already in the business since 2017. It started with an American grill as their theme, and eventually shifted to serving Filipino dishes. This was to cater to the longing of their Filipino customers for tasting their hometown foods.
The restaurant is Filipino-owned and is currently serving Filipino dishes such as lechon, igado, pancit, dinuguan, barbecue skewers, and many others.
The news story also shared that the restaurant is open only every weekend since its owners Josephine and Allen Cook both have jobs during weekdays.
In Mikey Chen’s video, he showed the entire place including the area where lechon are being roasted in bamboo skewers. Also shown was the kitchen of the restaurant, the entire dining place, and likewise the karaoke corner. He mentioned that any Filipino place would not be complete if there is no karaoke corner.
Josephine, one of the owners, was seen in the video handing over a fresh off-the-grill barbecue to Mikey Chen whereby the vlogger favorably complimented the taste.
Following Chen’s featured video, the restaurant gained so much popularity as they saw a sudden increase in the number of their visitors.
